Irma Rita Austin

Irma Iris "Rita" Austin, 76, died peacefully in her sleep on Mother's Day, May 8th, 2016 at her home in Burbank, CA.

She is survived by her daughters, Lauren Elizabeth and Katherine Elisa and the joy of her life, her granddaughter, Asia Lauren Austin Brown. In addition, she leaves behind her brother, sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews and host of lifetime friends.

Born in Santurce, Puerto Rico and via New York City, she and her family made their way to Los Angeles, CA, the city of dreams, where she started her own family and put the "D" in "DIY" homemaking. Anyone driving down Myers Street in the 1970's can attest to seeing her outside on a ladder with a paintbrush and a can of paint! She loved cooking and entertaining for her family, home decorating and dancing to music.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May21st at 2:30pm at Forest Lawn Memorial, Hollywood Hills in the red brick church where she will be laid to rest nearby her loving firstborn son, Jeffrey Allen Austin who was taken from this world far too soon. Family and friends will be received one half hour prior to the service for private viewing.
