Ione Barber Ericson

January 7, 1928 — August 2, 2018

Our beloved Ione Ericson passed away peacefully on August 2, 2018. She was born January 7, 1928 in Syracuse, Utah to Wallace and Ethel Barber and was one of 11 siblings.

Ione married Harold Hadley April 3, 1946 in the Salt Lake City Temple and they were married for 25 years and raised a family of 5 children. She later moved to California where she worked at Teacher Supplies for 17 years before retiring in 1990. Soon after, she went back to work at Chapman University Bookstore, where she was a student favorite, until her final retirement at the age of 80 in 2008. She moved from Orange to Murrieta, CA and lived with her daughter, Connie, where she enjoyed a more relaxed life playing cards and bingo with friends for her last 9 years.

Ione packed many unique experiences into her 90 years. Her toughness, resilience, and adventurous spirit has been an inspiration for all who knew her. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She camped, boated, fished, and enjoyed off-roading with them. Each year, she traveled to Utah and Texas to visit family member living there. She was often overheard talking about her love for her family and how proud she was that she "created all of this."

Ione was preceded in death by 7 brothers and sisters and by her son, Randy. She is survived by her brother Jim, sister Joyce, and brother Jay. Her legacy lives on through her daughter Connie Hadley, son Scott (Kerry) Hadley, son Reed Hadley, and daughter Malinda (Joe) Breedlove. She is also survived by her grandchildren, John Jensen, David Jensen, Michelle Alexander, Trisha Gussert, Justin Hadley, Bobbi Ledesma, Lonny Hadley, Randy Hadley, Tara Hadley, Lance Breedlove, Amanda Marberry, and Zachary Breedlove as well as 26 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
