Ioan Marius Campeanu, M.D.

Ioan Marius Campeanu, MD, beloved husband, uncle and stepfather, passed away at home August 10, 2023, with family by his side.  Marius was born August 4, 1947, in Bucharest, Romania to Constantin and Elena Campeanu.  He was raised in the communist country of Romania where he became a physician. In 1979, Marius and his first wife, Maria (now deceased), had the opportunity to immigrate to the US.

He completed a psychiatry residency at USC Medical Center in 1987, where he began practicing medicine again as a psychiatrist, becoming Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine and the Director of the Division of Emergency Psychiatry at USC LA County Medical Center, a position he held for many years.  Following his retirement from USC LA County Medical Center, Marius established a private practice in Glendale where he treated patients for the past 23 years.

In 2019, Marius married Cornelia, affectionately known as Neil by family and friends.  They shared a love of traveling and thoroughbred horses, often spending weekend afternoons at Santa Anita Racetrack.  Recently he achieved a life-long dream with the invitation to partner in the ownership of two young thoroughbred fillies.

Marius is survived by his wife, Neil, and her children Caroline Ludlow, Kristofer Jones and grandson Dawson; and relatives of his first wife, Maria, their niece, Doriana Cosgrove and her children Caleb, Matthew and Leah; and their nephew, Andrei Begu and his children Costin, Mihai, Angela and Kassandra.
