In Loving Memory of Inocensio Ibarra Chavez December 28, 1928 – March 10, 2025

Our beloved father, Inocensio Ibarra Chavez, was born on December 28, 1928, in Guadalupe, Zacatecas, Mexico, to Jose Prixedis Chavez and Elisa Ibarra Chavez. He was lovingly raised by his grandmother, Francisca Chavez, until the age of seven, when he was reunited with his father and stepmother, Monica Chavez.

He was one of twelve siblings—four brothers and seven sisters. Inocensio later moved to the United States, where he married the love of his life, Maria De Los Angeles Chavez, on January 21, 1967, at Saint Mary Catholic Church in Whittier, California. Together, they built a life in Baldwin Park, California, raising a beautiful family of six sons and three daughters.

A self-employed general contractor, Inocensio took great pride in his work. His five sons worked alongside him, learning not only the trade but the values of hard work, discipline, and dedication. He was a provider in every sense of the word—committed to his family, his faith, and his craft.

After the passing of his beloved wife in 1991, he never stopped loving her. Though life without her was difficult, his heart remained steadfast in devotion. He retired in July of that same year, a transition that was made easier through the unwavering love and care of his daughter, Maria Chavez Barriga, who ensured he was well cared for every day until his final moments.

Inocensio passed away peacefully at home on March 10, 2025, at 1:10 a.m., surrounded by love.

He leaves behind a legacy of 27 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and many great-great-grandchildren. He found immense joy in spending time with his family—attending school events, birthday parties, football games, holiday gatherings, and even traveling with them to places like Hawaii, Laughlin, and Las Vegas. He especially loved trips to Redondo Beach and was happiest when surrounded by loved ones at home.

A simple man with a generous heart, Inocensio was known for his warm presence and his incredible cooking—his Menudo was the best in town and a cherished family favorite.

He will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn in Covina Hills, California, beside his wife of 22 years.

God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. We love you deeply and will miss you always. Rest in eternal peace, Dad.
