Ingrid Weissmuller

December 1, 1940 — December 7, 2018

Ingrid was born in Injia, Yugoslavia to ethnic German parents of Hans and Theresia Steinwasser and the older sister to Edith Steinwasser. In 1944 WW11 they fled to Austria and lived with a wonderful family who got them back to their roots and a loving home. November of 1952 the Steinwasser family came to America via the ship the Blanchard and landed in New Orleans then took a train to California and settled in Los Angeles where Vater Lani sponsored them to come through the St. Stephan's German church where they embraced and continued their Danube Swabian heritage.

Ingrid received her Bachelor of Science from Mt St Mary's in Los Angeles and married her true love Roland Weissmuller who she met thru the church, on July 6, 1963, and together had two wonderful children Krista and Mark. She was the proud Oma to her loving granddaughter, Ava Luna who is now 10! She also had a love for her dogs in our home, over the decades German Shepard's Rex, Brandy, Bonzo, English Springer Spaniel Whiskey and now our Pit mix Jack.

She worked for 33 years at Hema Care blood clinic as a clinical scientist and retired in 2013. She loved her career in the medical industry. Her love for her family always came first as Mom and Dad were married 53 years true love and sweethearts. Mom was widowed as we lost our beloved Dad, Roland April 2017.

Mom had a beautiful long 78 year and was surrounded by so much love and family. She passed away at home December 7, 2018. Mom was a true fighter and survivor, she never gave up as she had her first Breast Cancer in 1977 and recurrence in 1988 and then to the spine in 1999. Around 2002 it metastasized to the bones. She was under great care at UCLA oncology and the last two years it was her toughest battle, but she always kept smiling, loving, and didn't complain. Always researching and trying alternative methods to fight and get better. She was a true warrior inside and out. She was always hoping for the next cure. She always wanted to help with research and especially with children giving them hope and not having to have cancer.

We know now she is pain-free in heaven with her loving husband Roland dancing and watching over us. Thank you to our family and friends for all of your support and love.
