Ignace “Pete” Miranda, 92, of La Mirada, CA, passed away peacefully at home on July 2, 2025. Born on August 12, 1932, in Brooklyn, New York, Pete lived a life marked by deep devotion to his country, his family, and his passions.

Pete proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1965 during the Korean War, where he flew the OV-1 Mohawk conducting aerial reconnaissance. That aircraft sparked a lifelong love affair—he never stopped talking about the Mohawk and the missions that defined his early years of service. He was a long-time member of the OV-1 Mohawk Association, sharing memories with others who loved the plane as he did.

In 1976, Pete married the love of his life, Jane Lassley. Along with Jane came her two daughters, Lori and Cindy, whom Pete welcomed and cherished as his own. Together, Pete and Jane built a life full of stories, laughter, and cross-country travels with their children and, later, their grandchildren. Pete was a proud and doting grandfather to five grandchildren: twins Mark and Matthew, Annie, Sara, and Kate. He took great joy in being the one to buy the first bike, skateboard, or pair of skates. He shared a special bond with Mark and Matthew, often calling them his best friends.

After Jane’s sudden passing in 2009, Pete found solace and new joy in music. He became a regular on the karaoke circuit, developing a signature set of Frank Sinatra hits. His favorite song, “My Way,” perfectly captured his spirit—independent, bold, and true to himself to the very end.

Pete leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering loyalty. He is survived by his daughters Lori and Cindy, his five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren as well as many cherished family members including his niece, Janet.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Cypress, CA.
