Hui Chuan Lin was born on February 7, 1936, in Jieyang County, Guangdong Province, in southeastern China. At the age of eleven, she moved with her parents and siblings to Kaohsiung City in Taiwan, where her father began working for Taiwan Sugar Corporation. After graduating from Pingtung Normal School, Hui Chuan devoted many years to teaching at Siaogang Elementary School. She was a deeply respected and beloved educator, remembered for her dedication to her students and her beautiful singing voice.

Hui Chuan welcomed two children following her marriage to Kuang Shan Lin in Taiwan in 1958. In 1974, she relocated with her family to Kaduna, Nigeria, where her husband served as the resident physician for a large Chinese textile facility. In 1977, Hui Chuan immigrated to New York City and later settled in Rockland County, New York. Hui Chuan embraced her role as a devoted grandmother, affectionately known as “Nainai,” and played a vital role in raising her three grandchildren during their early childhood, as well as throughout many summers and school breaks. When Kuang Shan retired in 1994, they left the East Coast for better weather in Cerritos, California. Hui Chuan passed away on February 15, 2026, and was residing in Monterey Park, California, at the time of her passing.

Hui Chuan is survived by her husband, Kuang Shan Lin; her children, CJ (Tina) and Wenny (John); her grandchildren, Jennifer (Alex), Jonathan (Cici), and James; and her great‑grandchildren, Asher, Finn, and Noah.
