Homer E. Weaver III, 52, born on January 30, 1963 in San Bernardino, CA, passed away October 25, 2015. He resided in Palm Desert, CA, at the time of his passing. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn Cathedral City, CA. Homer is survived by Marvin Morrow, his partner of eleven years, his mother Sarah Weaver, his father Homer E. Weaver II, and sisters, Diane Baslak, Jeanette Garmin, and Robin Moskowitz. Called "Homie" by friends and "Junior" by family, he was honorably discharged from the Navy where he was stationed in Jacksonville Florida, as an electronics warfare technician operator. After completion of service in the naval reserve, Homer became interested in the food industry. After working in several family owned restaurants, Homer showed talent in management and the culinary arts. His well rounded expertise landed him a position with an exclusive regional supermarket chain. His positions include deli buyer, director, manager, and chef. He was always ready to bridge the gaps and improvise when necessary. Of Homer's best qualities was his ability to utilize his extraordinary personal skills to make sure his customers and contacts walked away feeling satisfied with their encounters with him.
Homer was rarely seen without a smile on his face. He loved life and exhibited it with a large tattoo on his back with the words "LIVIN THE DREAM", above a classic Escher reproduction.
Homie's favorite place to be was a small trailer on the Colorado river, minutes from Lake Havasu, where he spent virtually every weekend with his partner Marvin, and their dogs, Buck and Dewey, as well as other new friends with the same interests. Homer's innate ability to make a simple meal into a feast was a joy in which he reveled. His other pleasures were swimming, boating, camping on the secluded beaches of Havasu, concerts, and generally having fun. He liked to live a little on the edge and has the scars to prove it.
From the time of his first heart attack at age 41, he had numerous health issues, eventually resulting in a triple by-pass surgery which didn't work as planned. He fought a good fight for many years but finally succumbed to congestive heart failure. He is so loved and sorely missed. The world was a better place with him in it.
He was cremated in a simple ceremony attended by his partner Marvin, at Forest Lawn Cathedral City. He was sent off with his favorite song, "How Far is Heaven", by the group Los Lonely Boys. My guess is that the question has been answered.
"Junior" is adored by his family as the youngest of the siblings.
"Homie" and Marvin met on Marvin's birthday, and is referred to by Marvin as "the best birthday present I ever got".
There will be a military style ceremony and a celebration of Homer's life, both, to be announced.
The future final resting place for Homer E. Weaver III has been designated as the "Murmuring Trees" area of Hollywood Hills Forrest Lawn, in Los Angeles California.
