Hilda Joyce Mikula

Hilda Joyce Mikula, born on December 13, 1923, in Norton, Texas, passed away February 28, 2021 at the age of 97, to join her predeceased husband, John Mikula.
Joyce and John met at Hobbs Army Airfield in New Mexico during World War II. John was the supervisor of the photo lab and Joyce was his secretary. They married on January 20, 1945. Michael was born in Hobbs on March 1946. Not a lot going on in Hobbs so John and Joyce decided to move to Salt Lake City, Utah. Patty was born in June 1951. John junior was born in March 1953. The houses in Salt Lake City were huge. Joyce not only managed the family but took in college students as boarders for income. June 1956, the big move to California. Joyce has been in the same house on Stanbridge Ave for the last 65 years. Lots of great memories.
She is survived by her loving children.
Son Michael Mikula and wife Arlinda.
Daughter Patricia Brancato and husband Lou. Grandson Christopher Brancato and wife Julie. Great grandchildren Chloe and Kayleigh.
Son John Mikula.
Son Charles Mikula, born February 1962, and wife Margaret. Grandson David Mikula and granddaughter Alena. Granddaughter Aarika Simmons and husband Trip. Great grandson Rowan. Great granddaughter Willow. Granddaughter Zantha Ricks and husband Rich. Great granddaughter Vivian.
Joyce worked as the supervisor for the Cal State Long Beach Library Receiving Department for 18 years. Retirement did not slow Joyce. She volunteered with Miller Children's Hospital Auxiliary Gift Store for 36 Years.
