Hilda Layda, born on June 20, 1920 in Hungary, passed away on April 26, 2017. She last resided in Scottsdale, Arizona, but spent most of her years in Pasadena, California. Hilda was an incredible woman. Married off at 17 to a man she'd only met once, she survived 3 concentration camps, fled Hungary on foot to escape the Russians, and became one of the most successful realtors in Southern California. A one-woman bundle of energy, determination and ambition, Hilda was an extraordinarily strong person. Even in the most dire of circumstances, she lived her mantra: "You never know what something bad is good for."
In her prime, she was an avid reader, a graceful dancer, and a shrewd business woman. Queen of the green thumb, flowers and plants thrived under her care. Hilda was a warm, generous and wise soul. She was always striving, now she has arrivedâ€¦in heaven. Her departure leaves a sad void in our lives.
