HERMAN KORTHALS
June 24, 1925 - May 18, 2022

A beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. Herman Korthals passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at the Aging Eternity Retirement Home in Los Angeles, California surrounded with love by his family Robert Eugene Korthals, Shelley Montpas and Dorothy M. Gamboa.

He was born in Sheldon, Iowa and later moved to Culver City, CA with his lovely wife Shirley Mae Korthals (recently deceased December 31, 2020 and had celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary). They had four beautiful children Robert Eugene Korthals, Donald Lee Korthals, Edward James Korthals and Connie Mae Korthals and longtime family friend of 67 years Dorothy M. Gamboa.

Herman was a longtime resident of Culver City, CA, a World War II Veteran in the U. S. Army, a foreman for Wonder Bread, Betsy Ross Elementary School chaperone, avid Los Angeles Dodgers baseball and Lakers basketball fan, recycling environmentalists, loved traveling and camping with his family and friends.

He is dearly loved and will truly and deeply be missed by all who knew him, and will remain in our hearts forever.

Herman is survived by his only living son Robert Eugene Korthals and Herman's grandchildren Kimberly Lynn Korthals, Jason Eugene Korthals, Calab Korthals, Levi Hastings, Jacob Hastings, Johanna Blackwood and Brea Bodine.

Burial will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at 3:00 pm at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90068, (800)204-3131.
