Herman David Jameson

December 15, 1931 — November 6, 2020

Herman David Jameson- known as Dave to family and friends- left this world on November 6, 2020. He was born December 15, 1931 in Norfolk, VA to Marie (Eva Cecilia) Rush and Herman David Jameson Sr. He spent the first 10 years of his life as a Navy kid. In December of 1941, he had a front row seat to the bombing of Pearl Harbor from his home on base. He lost his father the following August during the Battle of Savo Island when he was killed aboard the USS Astoria. Dave and his mother made the journey back stateside and settled in Long Beach, CA where he grew up, graduating from Huntington Beach High School. He followed family tradition and enlisted in the Navy and became a radioman. He rose to the rank of 1st class Petty Officer before transferring to the US Air Force. Intending to retire from the military, he raised his two step sons and a daughter from first wife, Alice, until medical problems forced him into an early discharge. They landed back in Long Beach. Finding he had an aptitude for fixing things, Dave became a Sears appliance repairman. After several years with Sears, he was recruited to work for Rheem Manufacturing Company as a field service representative. That was where he met his second wife, Cathy. It is also where he discovered an aptitude for public speaking which would bring his final and most fulfilling professional career- teaching HVAC in and adult school. After retiring from Rheem, he spent several years at the Regional Occupation Program in Anaheim- a job he loved!

Dave had an easy smile and a jovial personality. He enjoyed spending time with friends and traveling the world with Cathy, deep sea fishing, and tinkering with computers. He is predeceased by his parents, as well as brothers Ed and Clifford (Bob). He is survived by his wife, Catherine, daughter, Kani, son-in-law, Doug, grandchildren Monika (Jaime) and Joshua, great-granddaughter, Everly, sister Beverly, and brother, Richard.
