Herlinda Penate Pastor

March 21, 1946 — December 21, 2021

Herlinda Peñate Pastor, 75, born on March 21, 1946, in El Salvador, passed away on December 21, 2021. Daughter of both deceased, Cornelio Peñate and Isabel Contreras Peñate, of El Salvador, Linda moved to Los Angeles when she was 18 years old. She lived, worked and raised a family in Los Angeles and was in her home with them at the time of her passing. Funeral arrangements have been made under the direction of Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, in California and she will be put to rest on January 19, 2022.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Jose Acosta Pastor; her children and their families, Jose M. Pastor, Jr. and Isabel Pastor, granddaughters, Melani Azul and Madelynn Pastor and grandsons, Anthony and Christopher Pastor; Maritza Pastor-Llanes and Robert Llanes, granddaughters, Isabella and Sophia Llanes; Alexandra Pastor McGee and Michael McGee, granddaughters, Alexandra Novelle and Mackayla McGee; her siblings, Argelia Escobar, Gloria Martinez, Alfredo Peñate and Mauricio Contreras; her goddaughter/niece, Lizette Martinez; and numerous family members whom she loved very much.

Linda was an exceptional wife and mother. Her patience and warmth were always abundant for her loved ones. She was an extraordinary care giver with a loving bedside manner and made herself available to care for ailing family whenever needed. She helped in raising her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren, and found creative ways to keep everyone busy and learning. She was a great cook and often cooked big feasts for the parties she and Jose hosted for countless family and friends. Always kind and dignified, making it her job to "keep the peace", she was a master of diplomacy.

Linda shared and reinforced her life lessons, using much-remembered spanish language adages. How to act right... "No hagas cosas malas que parezcan buenas, ni cosas buenas que parezcan malas." [Don't do bad things that appear to be good; nor good things that appear to be bad]. Another one of her favorite, endless, lesson was not to procrastinate..."No dejes para mañana lo que puedas hacer hoy." [Don't leave for tomorrow what you can do today]. Another favorite about efficient communication... "La gente se entienden con palabras." [People understand each other with words].

Her great loves included her husband, Jose, her children, her mother, her siblings and their children. She also loved the novels of Isabel Allende, the impassioned voice of Marc Anthony and all variety of flowers (despite not loving the wild, outdoors so much).

Linda had a beautiful dimpled smile, a warm laugh, and a soothing singing voice that will be forever missed by all who loved her.
