Henri Conrad Montoya

Henri Conrad Montoya was born in 1914 in Colorado. He grew up on his father's farm but completed high school in Chicago. He excelled in gymnastics and, following high school, joined a local circus as an aerialist. He and his sisters purchased and ran a tea room in a Chicago hotel during the depression. He subsequently moved to southern California first to work at Douglas Aircraft during WWII and later to work for Color Reproduction in Hollywood where he stayed for 30 years. Hank, as he was known by his many friends, retired to Palm Springs in the 70's and became active in local dance clubs. He served on his condominium association for many years. He danced right up to near the end. Hank is survived by his son, John Conrad Montoya and his wife Judi Montoya of Seattle, Washington, and five granddaughters and their families: Karin Walther of San Rafael, Mandy Safka of Menlo Park, Michele Penn of Dallas, Texas, Joanna Montoya of New York and Ellie Montoya of Waldport, Oregon. Hank has 11 great grandchildren. Hank lived a full and rich 98 years and he died peacefully on December 31, 2012, in Seattle. A funeral service will be held on January 11, 2013, at 1:00 pm at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Cathedral City. He will be buried at Desert Memorial Park beside his wife Helen. Hank gave generously to the Catholic Church and to the Eisenhower Medical Center if you wish to make a donation in his name. Our dad and Grandpa Henri will be missed.
