Atkinson, NH: Helen C. (Johnson) Reynolds, 83, of Atkinson, NH and a wintertime resident of North Port, FL, died on April 25, 2016 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.
Born in Boston, MA, beloved adopted daughter of Earle N. and Hazel E. (Holt) Johnson, she graduated from Haverhill High School with the Class of 1950 and attended Lesley College from 1950-1952. At the age of 38 with a husband and four children at home cheering her on, Mrs. Reynolds went back to college full time and graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1972.
Mrs. Reynolds served as a First Grade teacher for the Timberlane School District from 1972 until her retirement in 1992. She was the recipient of the Outstanding Teacher Recognition Award in 1984 in the Timberlane School District and also received the Outstanding Educator's Award in 1990 at the Legislative Office in Concord from the Parent Information Center, which was a private special needs education group.
A member of the Delta Kappa Gamma International for Outstanding Educators, Mrs. Reynolds was also a member of the Atkinson Congregational Church. She enjoyed reading, playing tennis, gardening and swimming. An avid New England Patriots and Red Sox fan, Mrs. Reynolds also enjoyed writing in her journal.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, Meredith E. "Bub" Reynolds, three sons, Wayne K. Reynolds of Plaistow, Keith D. Reynolds and his wife Paula of Haverhill, MA, and Steven E. Reynolds and his partner Mark Gage of Greenland, NH, a daughter, Diane L. (Reynolds) Ciolek and her companion Rusty Bolles of Ipswich, MA, a sister-in-law, Marilyn E. Garland of Wilmington, Delaware, and three grandchildren, Jillian H. Reynolds, Adam Ciolek, and Nathan Ciolek.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mrs. Reynolds's Life Celebration on Sunday, May 1 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. Her funeral service will take place on Monday, May 2 at 11 a.m. at the Atkinson Congregation Church, 101 Main Street, Atkinson, NH. Burial will follow in Atkinson Cemetery.
