Helen Marie Elizabeth Falone

Helen was born at 6pm Palm Sunday on April 10,1927. She was the daughter and only child of Bert and Erma Haggman. She was baptized and confirmed in early youth in the Ada Lutheran Church in Republic County, Kansas. Her youth was spent on their farm where she was active in all aspects of farm work including driving machinery. At 18, she attended Manhattan State College in Kansas, in the Home Economics and Nursing Program. A year later, she transferred to Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois majoring in Nursing and graduating in 1949 as a registered nurse.

She met Alfred C. Falone in 1950 when he was visiting his uncle who was a patient under her care. Romance resulted and they were married on April 12, 1952 in Glenview, Illinois. From this union, came three terrific children, Alana, Guy, and John; six grandchildren Jason, Greg, Bryant, Nicholas, Alex, and Jake; and eight great grandchildren, Trinity, Jedaiah, Jaxson, Dylan, John, Max, Jennifer, and Emma.

Both Alana and Guy were born in Santiago, Chile while Alfred was working as head designer of a clothing company. Helen taught herself to speak Spanish and managed well. Since Al was taught Italian, he was fluent in Spanish quickly. They all lived in Chile for four years before moving to Covina, California where John was born.

They had always belonged to the Lutheran Church but after Alfred passed away in 2002, Helen joined the Lighthouse Baptist Church in LaVerne, California to be near Guy and Michele in Covina.
