EARLY LIFE
Helen David Basco was born on February 15, 1944, in Dinalupihan, Bataan, Philippines. She was the fourth of six siblings, growing up in a close-knit family that emphasized the importance of family, education, hard work and strong religious values.
EDUCATION AND CAREER
Helen pursued her studies at the then Philippine Normal College, where she graduated with a degree in Education. Although she began her professional journey as a teacher, her career path soon led her to work in the area of accounting. Helen worked at the Armed Forces of the Philippines - General Headquarters before transitioning to the accounting department at the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) in Baguio City.
FAMILY AND PERSONAL LIFE
Helen's personal life was as rich and fulfilling as her professional one. She was a devoted mother to two children, Dennis and Donna May. Known for her strict yet loving and compassionate nature, Helen was a pillar of strength of her family.
PASSIONS AND INTERESTS
In addition to her professional and familial responsibilities, Helen had a variety of personal interests. During her college years, she was a talented volleyball player, excelling as a varsity athlete that traveled around the Philippines. Her love for sports was matched by her passion for cooking, which brought joy and delicious meals to her family. Helen and her husband Jerry shared a mutual love for dancing. They were not only enthusiasts but also competitive dancers who won first-place prizes in Cha Cha and Boogie competitions, showcasing their grace and talent on the dance floor.
LEGACY
Helen David Basco's life was marked by dedication, love, resilience and generosity. Her journey being part of a prominent family from a small town in Bataan to becoming a respected professional and beloved matriarch is a testament to her strength and character. Helen passed away on January 4, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and inspiration. Her family continues to carry forward the values and passions she instilled in them.
Helen is survived by her children Dennis and Donna, her daughter-in-law Divina, son-in-law Leo and her precious 5 beautiful and talented grandchildren Angela Clarisse, Alvin Jean, Mia Angela, Michael Angelo and Marie Angela. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeromin.
