Hector Ruiz, 82, born on September 6, 1934, in El Paso, Texas, passed away February 5, 2017. He was an Air Force Veteran in the mid-1950s and was honorably discharged in 1957. He then began work in the Aerospace industry with Garrett AiResearch (later AlliedSignal, and now Honeywell) where he worked until the early 1990s. He married Mary Portillo on December 2, 1961. The couple lived in West Los Angeles for a short time before buying a home and moving to Orange County after the birth of their first child, Hector, in September, 1962. Their second child, Patricia, was born in July, 1966. Hector and Mary raised their two children, eventually purchasing a vacation home for the family use in the Sugarloaf area of Big Bear, which Hector took great pride in renovating and adding additional rooms. Hector and Mary were also able to send their children off to college in the early 1980s, and the couple remained together until Mary passed away in 2006. Hector still resided in his home in Cypress, California at the time of his passing. He is survived by his children, Hector Anthony Ruiz and Patty Ann Brooks, Patty's husband, Robert Brooks, his brothers, Fernando and Raul, as well as his three grandchildren, Paige, William, and Katelyn, his niece and nephew Albert and Vicki Casas, and their children, his grandniece and grandnephews, Samantha, James, and Donald.
