Hazel, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, left us on January 13, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on July 17, 1930, in Ocotal, Nicaragua, Hazel was a remarkable woman whose love and kindness will forever resonate in the hearts of her family and friends.
Hazel dedicated over 35 years of her life as the manager of Holly Bra of California making bathing suits and bras, where her strong work ethic and leadership shone brightly until her retirement in 1999. She not only excelled in her career, but she also enriched the lives of those around her with her warmth, kindness, and humor.
Known for her nurturing spirit, Hazel made everyone feel at home with her open arms and infectious laughter. Though she was loving and kind, she was not one to easily forget when wronged, a testament to her strong and resilient character. Throughout her life, Hazel cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, creating beautiful memories that will be held close in their hearts forever. Her passion for music and dancing brought joy to her spirit, and her laughter filled the spaces around her with light and love.
She leaves behind her children, Alfonso Navarro, Soledad Kennedy, and Rose Garcia, along with her treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of her life. Hazel will also be deeply missed by her siblings, nieces, and nephews as she was the matriarch of the family. She rejoins her departed siblings, Alfonso Moncada, Salvador Moncada, and Marisol Moncada, and her parents in eternal peace.
A funeral service to honor her remarkable life will be held on February 6, 2026, at Forest Lawn - Covina Hills - Church of Our Heritage, located in Covina, California. After the service, family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Hazel's life and the indelible mark she left on each of us. In-lieu of flowers we kindly ask that you make a donation to the Alzheimer organization in her memory by visiting https://events.alz.org/fundraisers/rosegarcia.
We are grateful for the time we shared with her, and while she may no longer be with us, her spirit will live on in our hearts.
