Harriet Ann Lowrey

June 5, 1936 — March 7, 2019

Harriet Ann Lowrey, Age 82, passed away March 7, 2019, in her home where she resided in Pismo Beach, California. She was surrounded by her grandchildren, Victoria Carranza and Evan Doty, who were her main caregivers during her very short week home on Hospice. She put up a great fight, but the lung issues that she had developed, were too much for her. Funeral and graveside services will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Covina CA on April 6, 2019 at 2:30 pm. For those who would be unable to attend these services, there will be a "Celebration of Life Gathering" planned in Pismo Beach at her home at a future date not yet determined. For further information on the gathering, you may contact her granddaughter, Victoria @ 805-459-6752.

Harriet Ann, "Sue or Susie", as known to her family and friends, was born in St Louis, Missouri on June 5, 1936. There she lived til she was 14 years old when she moved to California. Susie was a mother of two children, five grandchildren, and four "great" grandchildren. She was also daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and mother in law. She enjoyed all her family, but especially enjoyed her grandchildren's lives; seeing them all grow up to be amazing adults, had brought her so much joy. Her four great grandchildren were a very extra special addition in her life.

She touched the lives of her family and friends and the many people she met along her journey. Sue never knew a stranger, she was ready to have a conversation with everyone she met. She has been a part of the Central Coast Community for over 50 + years. She loved the area and called Pismo Beach her home when she passed. She had worked numerous jobs in the area since coming here after getting married at the age of 16 years old. She worked in the Fair Oaks Theatre as a teenager, Avila Hot Springs, Co Owned / Built the Village Emporium in Arroyo Grande, and was a realtor in the community.

She belonged to several quilting groups in the area which she created the most beautiful quilts one could make, most of which were all "gifts of love" made for family and friends. She was also involved with making quilts for the LA Children's Hospital in which she would hand deliver to the children in the hospital during their stay there. Seeing their faces light up when she gave them their quilts; was all she needed to see. Children always had a very special place in her heart.

Her other activities she enjoyed doing were making her Lighted Jeweled Christmas Trees (framed), the numerous ones she made were also "gifts of love", enjoyed sewing table runners, making pillowcases (which she made numerous pairs for the local women's shelter) and needlepoint. She was very proud of her home and took great pride in decorating inside and out. She loved it best when she could host a party and show off her home and share with everyone who came in.

Her love for dancing and music should not go unmentioned, these two things brought her so much joy even up to the end days of her life. Her grandchildren were with her when Patsy Cline was being played for her and they could see her toes dancing beneath the blankets and her hands waving in time to the music. She was always up for a dance and now we can be sure she is "dancing in heaven" to the beautiful music of the Angels. We will all miss her very much and will love her for all that she has taught us and done for us in our lives.

The "Irish Blessing" was very meaningful and special to her, and I know she would love for it to be shared with you;

May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
and the rains fall soft upon your fields,
Until we meet again, may God hold you
in the palm of His Hands
Amen

Thank you to all her family and friends that she held dear, for being there to comfort her and love her along her journey, she loved you all very much. Her light will shine forever in all our hearts. Until we meet again ~ we love you.
