Harold "Hal" C. Hanover Jr., 94, of Indian Wells, Calif. passed away December 31, 2015 in Rancho Mirage, Calif. He was born October 7, 1921 to Harold Hanover Sr. and Dolores Powers in Buffalo, NY. He married Barbara Lewis on December 27, 1990 in Redwood City, Calif. He was employed with Linde Air and Bendix Corp, prior to being a self- employed businessman for a total of 73 years. He loved his church and country, and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946 as a WWII Navy Sonar Instructor and received the American Theatre Medal. He is survived by wife Barbara of Indian Wells; sons Harold C. (Harry) Hanover III of Bend, Ore., Daniel M. (Dan) and wife Nancy Hanover of Tarrytown, N.Y., Stephen P. (Steve) and wife Vivian Hanover of San Luis Obispo, Calif and five grandchildren. He is preceded in death by first wife Virginia and brothers Donald and Paul. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. January 12, 2016 at Forest Lawn Cathedral City. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. January 13, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Palm Desert, Calif. Graveside Service with Military Honors will be at 10:00 a.m. January 14, 2016 at Coachella Valley Cemetery, Coachella, Calif. with Forest Lawn Cathedral City in charge of arrangements. In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Navy Veterans.
