Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Uncle, and friend Harold "Hal" Haney passed away December 4, 2019.
Hal was born to parents John George Haney and Ruby Hortensa Steele on May 7, 1937 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He lived in Hamilton with his parents and brother George until 1952. The family moved to Pasadena, California where Hal attended school at Pasadena High School followed by Pasadena City College. While at school he played football. This ignited his life long love of the sport.
Hal worked for the Pacific Telephone company for 30 years. He started as a installer/repairman and ended in sales marketing management. While at a Pac Bell bowling league he met his true love Darlene Degrazia. They would wed May 30, 1970. Also, in 1970 Hal would become a US citizen, something he was very proud of.
Among his many passions, he enjoyed being with family and friends, many sports, football, hockey, golf, and bowling to name a few, reading a good book, traveling to new places, including his favorite place Hawaii. He enjoyed taking the family on camping vacations to places like Yellowstone, Oklahoma, British Columbia, and Lake Powell. He also enjoyed spending good times with his life long friends Richard and Joan Cox, Larry and Kaye Hampton, Bob and Diane Brown, and Don and Maria Blankenship.
Hal loved to laugh and laughed often. He loved to make others laugh and found strength in humor. He was the type of person people just gravitated towards. Hal retired at 48 and spent his time with family , friends, and traveling around the world with Darlene. In retirement Hal and Darlene resided in Gilbert, Arizona.
Hal is preceded in death by his loving parents John and Ruby Haney, brother George Haney, and grandson Daniel Davis. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years Darlene Haney, sons Steven Haney (wife Julianne), Drew Haney (wife Paula), Craig Haney (wife Gloria), daughter Vanessa Haney, grandchildren Hunter, Taylor, Steven, Kristin, Taryn, Dylan, Melyssa and great-granddaughter Hayden, and many other extended family members and friends.
