Harold Cormier

September 19, 1930 — May 25, 2024

Harold Henderson Cormier was born on September 19, 1930 to Muriel and Lawrence Cormier in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He is the middle child of three siblings, with Lela Cormier Hamilton as his older sister and Gerald Cormier as his youngest brother. The family lived in Texas, spending most of his childhood in Beaumont and Port Arthur. Harold attended Lincoln High School and graduated as valedictorian.  In 1950, Harold and Lela moved west to Los Angeles, CA, where Harold attended Compton College before transferring to UCLA, where he majored in Laboratory Sciences.

In 1971, Harold married Anita Mamoyac and together, they raised three daughters, in Mid-City Los Angeles. It was in Mid-City where he opened Marvel Graphics, a small storefront that offered print and copy services, after gaining a wealth of experience in commercial printing at Litton Industries.

Harold was also known for his refined cooking techniques that he learned from his mother from an early age. One of his favorite hobbies was reading the culinary section of the Los Angeles Times. He had an affinity for tasting something at a restaurant and successfully recreating it in his home kitchen.

Harold was raised Methodist. Later, he converted to Catholicism and joined St. Agatha’s parish where he received the sacraments of Baptism, Communion and Confirmation.

Harold’s selfless acts of love and unwavering principle will continue through his sister, Lela, his cousin, James, Anita and their daughters - Muriel, Virginia, and Mercedes. He has two granddaughters, Nola (18) and Ramona (5). He leaves behind a host of family and friends who will continue to honor his life and legacy.
