Hampartum Arakelian

Hampartum Arakelian was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was also called Hampig or Mike by friends and colleagues. He was the second son born to Serop and Ovsana Arakelian. He came into this world on July 8, 1946 in Bucharest, Romania. His older brother is Agop Arakelian. Hampartum finished his secondary education in Bucharest before emigrating with his family to the U.S. in 1964. The Arakelian family first lived in Salem, Massachusetts eventually settling in Los Angeles in 1966.

Hampartum was drafted into military service with the U.S. Army, beginning basic training at Ford Ord in 1967. He was subsequently stationed with the Military Police in Frankfurt, Germany until 1969. Upon finishing his military service he rejoined his family in Los Angeles, helping to run the Arakelian family grocery in East Hollywood while studying accounting at CalState University, Los Angeles. He finally began working as an accountant as his second career, after years of working in the food industry as a café owner, wholesale baker, and restauranteur. He married the love of his life, Anoush Inezian in 1972 and was blessed with two children, Antranig, born in 1974 and Adrine, born in 1977. His son married his love, Atourina Bouza in 2015. Hampartum was blessed with his granddaughter, Liliana, in 2017. He left this world on July 4, 2020 and will be greatly missed by all whose life he touched.
