Haverhill, MA: Gwendolyn E. (Fournier) Edmondson, 84, of Haverhill and Merritt Island, FL, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 23, 2013 at the Boston Medical Center.

Born in Groveland on June 17, 1929, daughter of the late Albert and Reta (Twombly) Fournier, she was raised and educated in Claremont, NH and graduated from Stevens High School with the Class of 1949.

Gwen was the owner of the Home Decorating Center in Haverhill and was known for her specialization in custom drapery. She was also a co-owner and operator of the Park Haven Rest Home for a number of years. She later worked as a machine operator for Western Electric and AT&T Technologies for twenty-six years before her retirement in 1990.

Mrs. Edmondson was an avid athlete in her younger years, playing softball, field hockey, and basketball. She loved crafts and enjoyed bowling in Haverhill. In her later years, she loved reading her Kindle and playing cards with her family and friends. She was a member of the Moose Lodge in Merritt Island, FL. She was also a member of the Communications Workers of America and the Telephone Pioneers of America.

She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Edmondson and Walda Smith of Haverhill, her sons, David M. Edmondson and his wife Norine of Haverhill, and Dennis Edmondson and his wife Faith MacElliott of Atkinson, NH, six grandchildren, Eric, Katie, Alicia, David, Nathan, and Brendon, three great-grandchildren, Liana, Hailey, and Kahley, her sisters, Barbara Norman of Haverhill, and Betty Ann Ward of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and several nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours. A private family graveside service will take place in Riverview Cemetery in Groveland at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
