Guadalupe G. Garcia

January 10, 1933 — January 2, 2026

Guadalupe G. Garcia, fondly known as Lupita, left this world peacefully in her sleep on January 2, 2026, in Coachella, California, at the age of 92. Born on January 10, 1933, in Nuevo León, Linares, Mexico, Lupita was a strong and vibrant woman whose spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

For over 35 years, Guadalupe dedicated herself to hard work as a farm laborer. She was a proud, card-carrying member of the United Farm Workers (UFW) union, passionately marching alongside civil rights leaders Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta during the UFW movement. Her commitment to social justice extended beyond her participation in marches; she helped with organizing, planning, and hosting UFW meetings, always seeking to uplift her community and fellow campesinos.

A no-nonsense individual with a keen sense of humor, Lupita loved to share a good joke and enjoyed dancing, teaching her children to dance cumbias, rancheras, and salsa, fostering a love for music and rhythm within her family. Holidays and the changing of seasons brought her joy, as she delighted in decorating her home for every celebration. In her later years, she found great pleasure in attending bingo games at local casinos.

Lupita was especially proud that all of her children learned to make traditional tamales and tortillas, and that they communicated in Spanish, passing on her cherished heritage. She was proud of her Yaqui culture from the Sonoran mountains in Mexico. She leaves behind a loving family, including her daughters Yolanda Vega, Maryann Garcia, Isabel ‘Betty’ Jara, Alicia ‘Alice’ Garcia-White, and her sons Robert Garcia, Michael Garcia, and Gilbert Garcia. She was blessed with more than 100 grandchildren.💕

Guadalupe is preceded in death by her beloved husband Salvador F. Garcia Sr., her son Florentino Loera, her daughter Rosa ‘Rosie’ Loera, and her son Salvador F. Garcia Jr.❤️

She will be remembered not only for her strong presence and dedication to family but also for her unwavering strength, humor, and love that transcended generations. Her legacy continues to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

A funeral service will be held in her honor on January 29, 2026, at 9:30 AM at Forest Lawn - Coachella - Mortuary Chapel Coachella, located at 51990 Jackson Street, Coachella, CA 92236.
