Grovene Oakes Anderson

April 23, 1926 — July 16, 2017

Grovene Oakes Anderson, a long time Rowland Heights resident, passed away peacefully on July 16th, 2017 at the age of 91. Grovene was born in South Boston, Virginia to Ospha and Esser Oakes. In 1944, while working at the Internal Revenue Service in Washington DC, Grovene met Dean "Andy" Anderson on his way to the War and the two were married in 1947. They then moved to Whittier before settling in Rowland Heights in 1956. Grovene and Dean were very active in local politics, education, PTA, and Boy Scouts. Breeding and showing English Bulldogs became a passion and their involvement grew to the national level. She was preceded in death by her husband Dean F. Anderson and is survived by her sons Grant Anderson, Nick Anderson and her grandson Jake Anderson. She will be missed and never forgotten.
A graveside service will take place at 11 AM on Saturday, July 22nd at Forest Lawn in Covina.
