On the morning of Saturday May 17th, 2014, God summoned his team of angles to Los Angeles, California to return Gregory Lamarr Quinn back to the Kingdom of Heavenâto continue living at his final destination. Gregory, 59, was born on July 26th, 1954 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Unfortunately, Gregory's parents passed away when he was a young child. However, his uncle and aunt, Johnny and Beatrice Richardson, raised him in a Christian home. They served as loving parental figures for him and played a significant role in his life. Gregory had the pleasure of growing up with one sister, and three brothers. He went to Howard High School in Chattanooga, and graduated with honors in 1972.
When Gregory was 28 years old (in 1983), he decided to make a drastic change in his life by relocating to Los Angeles, California for new opportunities. Prior to moving to his new city, Gregory had no set establishments in Los Angeles and no family or friends in Los Angeles for support. However, that never stopped him conquering his journey and pursuing his goals. Gregory was bold enough to do what most of us would be afraid to doâhe put all doubts aside and took a leap of faith as he decided to start his new life in California. Sure enough, Gregory quickly obtained his welders license and found work in his field. Gregory worked as a welder for a few years, and then decided to embark on a new career path. Gregory started his career at SRO Housing Corporation in 1985. He served 25 years with the company, and has received rewards for excellence. Gregory truly loved his career and he often raved about his amazing coworkers. Many of his newly found coworkers eventually became lifelong friends and they truly added a joy to his life up until his very last day here on this earth.
During the previous year in 1984, Gregory's charming demeanor attracted his first and only wife, Joyce Morrisâsoon to be Joyce Quinn. Similar to Gregory, Joyce also took a leap of faith and moved from Chicago, Illinois to California to start a new life, a few years prior to meeting Gregory. It was not long before they connected and both made plans of spending the rest of their lives together. As a result, they married in 1985 and had one daughter in January of 1986, Angela Joyce Quinn. Gregory was also kind enough to help raise his two twin step-daughters, Crystal and Carrie Clarke. He played a significant father role in their lives, in addition to his biological daughter, Angela.
Gregory loved working at SRO Housing, but in his leisure time he loved spending time with his family, cooking, watching films, sharing interesting stories about his life in Tennessee, and he loved spreading the word of God to his friends and family. Gregory was best known for his sense of humor, his open-mindedness, and his friendly and mellow personality. In addition, his love for God was continuously reflected in his personality, as he was always non-judgmental and accepted people for who they were inside. As a result of these personal characteristics of his, he was well liked by many people in both his career and in his community. Fortunately, his daughter Angela displays many of those same characteristics today, as she was profoundly influenced by him. Thus, his sprit will continue to live on and he will not be forgotten.
Throughout Gregory's life, he always had a team of loving friends and family members. As a result, he often stated that he felt happy and complete in his life if the Lord were to ever call him back home anytime soon. Thus, he would not want his loved ones to mournâbut instead celebrate his life. It would bring Gregory great joy to look down from the Kingdom of heaven to see his loved ones celebrating his life. Furthermore, although Gregory is absent from the body, he is present with Lord and we will be reunited with him as well as all our other lost loved ones whenever it is our time to be called back to the Kingdom of Heaven as well.
Romans 14:7-9 For none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's. For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.
