Gregory John Montz 65, of Huntington Beach, CA passed away suddenly on May 9th, 2018. Greg was born January 23, 1953 in Glendale, California to Naudean (Canty) Montz and William John Montz. Greg grew up in Long Beach, CA where he graduated from Wilson High School in 1971.

Greg was an active member of the Alamitos Bay Yacht Club where he would spend many weekends and summer days teaching his Grandsons to sail and passing on his for love for the water. Greg was an extremely involved Papa and would be present for not only his Grandson's sporting or school events; but he would make a point to be every child's Papa. Greg was also a member of Packard International. He enjoyed taking road trips in his 41' Packard with his wife and their dog Tessa. You would also find Greg rowing through Naples almost daily. Greg was active right up until he left this world.

Greg is survived by his wife Mary, his daughters Eileen Shuart and Amanda Janes, son-in-law Ryan Janes and grandsons' Sam and Eli. He is also survived by his mother Naudean, his sisters Michelle (Max) Martinez and Teresa Montz and many loving nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.

Please join the family for Greg's celebration of life. It will be held at Alamitos Bay Yacht Club on June 3rd, 2018 at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the ABYC Junior Sailing Program.
