Gloria Aguila Tagle

Gloria Aguila Tagle, 69, was born on January 7, 1945, in Manila, Philippines. She is the fifth of eight children of Alejandro Aguila, Sr and Paula Angeles. She finished her secondary education in 1961 at the University of Santo Tomas Education High School and obtained her Bachelor of Literature in Journalism degree, minor in Public Relations at the same university in 1965. She married Wilfredo Tagle of Apalit, Pampanga, Philippines on April 14, 1968 and has two sons: Francisco Alejandro (Kit) and Christopher Aris.

The family migrated to the United States in November 1972. They lived in the Hollywood area for over four years until they bought a house in Lakewood. They moved to Cerritos in 1978.

Gloria started working at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power in 1973 in Information Systems. She transferred to the Harbor Department in 1980 on a promotion and retired as a Senior Systems Analyst in 2005 after 32 years service with the City.

Gloria had two passions: jewelry and travel As she always said, one cannot have too much jewelry When she bought them, she could not have just a necklace. It had to have matching earrings and rings.

On travel, there was only one continent she hadn't been on: Antartica.When her sons were old enough to stay home by themselves, she started traveling, first on a 7-day tour of Hawaii, then an 11-country tour of Western Europe. Ever since then, she would have at least two trips a year: one within the States and another internationally.

Gloria passed away on May 10, 2014. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Cypress, California.
