Gloria Davis

Gloria Jean Davis, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on January 17, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on February 19, 1948, in Childersburg, Alabama, she moved to Los Angeles at the age of 12, where she would go on to build a life rich in love, strength, and resilience.

In 1968, Gloria married Marion Boyd Lee, Jr., and together they had three children. Gloria was the proud matriarch of a large family, including seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. As the oldest girl of eight children, she took on the role of family leader after her mother’s passing in 1987, guiding and nurturing those she loved with fierce and unwavering devotion.

Gloria was known for her warmth and generosity, particularly through her love of cooking. She expressed her care for others by preparing delicious meals and creating a welcoming space for family and friends. She was also an avid reader, and at family gatherings she was known to play a mean game of bid whist.

A woman of strength, Gloria never shied away from speaking her mind and standing firm in her beliefs. She was a woman of character who deeply impacted all who knew her.

Gloria leaves behind her three children and their spouses – Ursula & Michael, Neneki & Laphonza, and Nakia, seven grandchildren – E’Jon, Ean, James, Joshua, Jashae, Jashon & Nylah , two great-grandchildren – Jasai & Janai, two younger sisters and older brother – Kathy, Ingrid & Walter. She will also be remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family along with countless others who were touched by her love, wisdom, and unshakable spirit. She will be dearly missed, but her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
