Gladys Mildred Edmonston

Gladys Mildred Edmonston, 98, passed away July 31, 2015 in Seal Beach, California. Gladys was better known to her family and friends as "Mickey". Mickey was born November 23, 1916 in Turlock, California to Roy Wells Baker and Hazel May (Reed) Baker. She was raised on a farm in Turlock and went to schools in Turlock and graduated from Sonora High School. In about 1937, Mickey completed her training to be a cosmetologist in Fresno, California and worked as a hairdresser until she married George Rex Edmonston on August 22, 1945 in Huntington Park, California. Their only child, a son, Michael Roy Edmonston was born in 1946. Mickey and Rex purchased one of the first post-war homes built in what was then Bellflower and later became known as Lakewood. They lived in that house 47 years. Mickey worked for many years as a book keeper for the Blessings Corp. In 1993, Mickey moved to Leisure World in Seal Beach, California. She was pre-deceased by her parents, husband George Rex Edmonston in 1990, son Michael Roy Edmonston in 2004, granddaughter Shawn Marie (Edmonston) Martin in 2010, sister Maxine (Baker) Andreas in 1948, and brother Glenn Harmon Baker, Sr. in 2006. Survivors include granddaughter Michelle L Edmonston of Auburn, Washington, niece Anne (Baker) Powell of Clovis, California, nephews Thomas Baker Andreas of San Marcos, California, Kevin L Baker of Aguanga, California and 2 great grandchildren Cheyenne Richey and Anthony Bussey both of Washington State. Services will be handled by Forest Lawn-Cypress.
