Gina Ann Samples

January 24, 1969 — May 22, 2022

Gina Ann Samples departed this life peacefully with her twin sister Jennifer by her side and was made whole again and returned to the Lord on May 22, 2022 at the age of 53 after a long, fierce, and courageous battle against Ovarian cancer and other secondary cancers in her brain. Gina was born on January 24, 1969, to Edward and Lana Samples. Gina graduated from Eagle Rock High School as a member of the Class of 1987. She had many friends she met at school and church and other activities. Gina was in the pep club and on the drill team where she met many friends that she still had regular contact with and who have supported her in this fight. Gina could make friends with anyone and has many today from various periods in her life from elementary school to her employment at the time of her passing. She was passionate and strong willed in all she did. This was evident in her battle against cancer. As an employee at AT&T she spent a lot of time involved in union activities and fighting for the benefit of her fellow employees. She began her career with AT&T in 2007 and found herself in a job she loved and could share with her dad. She loved talking to him about what she was doing, and she loved climbing poles just like he had during his career. It was a real let down for her when her brain tumor would bring an end her time climbing poles, but she added her dog Otis to her tribe and moved forward. Gina enjoyed life and never passed up an opportunity to meet up with friends and family. Gina always wanted to do things for and give to others even if she really could not afford to. She loved to make others happy and help them in difficult times. Gina had three children and they were the one thing she was most proud of. She beamed when she talked about them and loved to share and celebrate their accomplishments with anyone who would listen. She considered Alex, Joshaua, and Indya her greatest gifts and loved them fiercely. Gina loved the Lakers and the 49ers and would often be seen with a shirt or hat of one of these teams. She loved to post about their victories and would fiercely debate their losses. Gina was a warrior, and her battle will live on with those who witnessed this journey. She could never be convinced that she would not beat this, and her positivity inspired others. Even in times when she was sick from chemo, radiation, or just having cancer she still thought of others. We are very grateful to the many people who have stood with and fought beside Gina. We cannot say thank you enough to Dr. Tewari, Dr. Farin, and Dr. Sheth for standing with Gina in her battle. They always believed in her ability to win. We are also very grateful to the family medicine doctors at Long Beach Memorial including Dr. Fletcher, Barnes, Valji, Dehnel, Armstrong, and many others along with the nurses on the 4th and 6th floor who all watched over her when she was hospitalized. Gina was reunited in death with her parents Edward and Lana Samples. She is survived by her three children: Alex, Joshaua, and Indya; her brother Jeff, twin sister Jennifer, and biological siblings Kelly, Doug, and Christy all who she loved dearly as well as many other family members and friends. She will be missed by many , but she will never be forgotten. Funeral services to celebrate Gina will be June 13, 2022 at Forest Lawn Cypress Church of our Fathers 4471 Lincoln Avenue, Cypress, CA 90630 at 1:30 pm with visitation 45 minutes prior and interment immediately after.
