Gil Tordilla

Gil Portugal Tordilla – beloved Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Father In-Law and Grandfather passed away peacefully at the age of 80 on March 1^st, 2024 in Hollywood, California, USA.

Gil was born on May 15th 1943 to Vicente and Maria Tordilla in Calabanga, Camarines Sur, Philippines. He was the third of eight siblings which included Vicente Jnr, David, Lilia, Virgilio, Angeles, Teresita and Edgar.

After Gil graduated from Ateneo De Naga High School, he went on to graduate at The University of  The Philippines in Manila.

In 1972 he married the love of his life, Salve Cierva Tordilla.

Together they had nine children -  Ana, Gil Vicente, Maria Gracia, Gil Jnr, Sharon, John Paul, Bernadette, Michael and Marc.

In 1985, Gil made a solo move to the United States in pursuit of a better life for his family. He worked for the United States Postal Service which helped support the family for many years.

In later years, his wife Salve, and eventually all children also relocated to the United States.

In 2004 Gil and Salve welcomed their first grandchild – Sebastian. Maylee, Malloree, Paige, Kyle, Troy, Adrian and Amara would follow.

In 2012 Gil retired and spent quality time with his beloved wife Salve, till she sadly passed in 2014. After this tragic year, Gil joined family in many celebrations, travel destinations (some crossed off a bucket list and some unfortunately not), with several lucky and unlucky visits to slot machines.

He will always be remembered for many great things - such as his faith, caring and easygoing nature, love for his family, love for Chinese Food, enjoyment of the odd slot machine, and his practical “don't worry, be happy” approach to life.

He is greatly loved and will always be missed.
