Gil Alano Parayno, Sr., 85, was born on September 01, 1940, and passed away on April 06, 2026. He resided in West Covina, California at the time of his passing. Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Covina Hills, California. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren and one living brother.
Gil is the 6th of 8 children from Maximo Parayno, Sr. and Rosa Parayno. He graduated from University of the East with bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. He worked as Electrical Engineer in the Philippines and in the United States until he retired.
As the gospel saying, "love thy neighbor," that is exactly what he did. On June 11, 1967, he married his neighbor, Virginia Bongato. They had 5 children: Normand, Gil Jr., Katherine, Kristine and Mark-Gil; And 9 grandchildren: Aleeza, Gerard, Audrey, Gabriella, Gerin, Joshua, Raven, Edison-Gil and Dean Renzo. His family spend many get-togethers as often as possible, and more often after he retired from work. He is known to his grandchildren as "Grumpy." He loved talking with his grandchildren, especially when they made jokes, teased each other, and most of the time, doing silly things with Grumpy.
Gil had a big and generous heart. Family from the Parayno and Bongato family have always looked up on him. He welcomed and opened his home to many and had always extended a helping hand, financially or giving guidance or just a place to chill.
Gil was diagnosed with Dementia in 2023. Along with Dementia, his physical health was also declining naturally with aging. Up until 2025, he was still able to get around and go out using a walker or a wheelchair. He would have periods of confusion, but there are moments when his memory was good. Towards the last quarter of 2025, both his physical and mental state has declined significantly and had been bed bound since then. Even at that state, he still enjoyed the time his family spent with him. His grandchildren continued to make him laugh. Every day, Gil would be surrounded by loved ones. He loved listening to his "oldies, but goodies" music; at times he would surprise you by singing along with some lyrics.
