Giacomo Abbate

Giacomo Abbate, 81, of Rancho Mirage, Calif., passed away on August 3, 2014. He was born on October 31, 1932 in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Giacomo and Concetta Abbate. He married Lucy Sorrentino in 1982. He owned his own manufacturing business of restaurant and hotel equipment. He served in the US Navy for two years. He is survived by his spouse, Lucy Abbate; daughter, Connie Pezulich of Brooklyn; son, Jack Abbate of Long Island, N.Y.; brother, Joseph Abbate of Ocean, N.J.; six grandchildren, Christopher, Paul, Giacomo, Joseph, Christina and Danielle; six great-grandchildren, Taylor, Aubrey, Alicia, Isabella, Giacomo and John. Visitations will be held on August 5, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on August 6, 2014 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Forest Lawn Ramon Chapel, Cathedral City, Calif. A funeral mass will be held on August 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 43775 Deep Canyon Road in Palm Desert, Calif. with entombment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 69855 East Ramon Road, Cathedral City. Forest Lawn Cathedral City is in charge of arrangements.
