"To all our beautiful caring friends and family, it is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our dearest mother, Geraldine "Mitzie" Barreras Rios. Mitzie was born February 18, 1939 and was a lifelong resident of Los Angeles, CA; Mitzie passed away peacefully in her sleep at home, July 30, 2013. Mitzie was preceded in death by her parents Isaac and Juanita Barreras, her brother Isaac, and her husband Anthony Rios. She is survived by her sisters, Juanita "Cookie", Patricia "Punky", and Lillian "Chema". She is also survived by her children Geraldine, Anthony, and Marcus and great-grandchildren Javier and Joshua.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, CA.
