Geraldine Ochave

Geraldine “Dhen Dhen” Evangelista Galvez Ochave, a beloved wife, mother, mama, sister, aunt, and friend, received her wings on August 21, 2024, in Harbor City, California surrounded by her loved ones during her final moments. Born on February 5, 1966, in San Fernando La Union, Philippines, Geraldine carried with her an unwavering spirit of kindness and love that illuminated the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Geraldine was known for her deep commitment to helping others, often putting their needs before her own. Her joyful laughter and warm presence brought happiness to her family and friends, and she found her greatest joy in nurturing the bonds with her loved ones. Her children, Jacqueline, John Christopher, and John Rudolph, along with her grandchildren, Jayovani and Jazline, meant the world to her. The happiness of her family was her utmost priority, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Geraldine’s health complications started in 1999. Regardless of her multiple health scares, she always kept God close to her heart and her Catholic faith remained strong. All Geraldine wanted was time - time to be with her loved ones, especially her family. She agreed to all treatments, surgeries, twice a week visits to Kaiser to buy more time with the people she loved the most. When a social worker asked Geraldine what makes her the happiest, she answered without any hesitation, “my kids and my grandchildren.” When asked, "how would you describe your mood?" She replied with a big smile, “Happy. Always happy. Positive.” 

She is survived by her devoted husband, Nestor Ochave; her beloved daughter, Jacqueline Vizcarra, and son-in-law, Daniel Vizcarra; her son, John Christopher Cinco, and daughter-in-law, Moua Chang Cinco; her son, John Rudolph Vincent Cinco; and her future daughter-in-law, Nikki Nguyen. Geraldine is also survived by her siblings, Laurence Galvez and Mary Ann Galvez, who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.

Geraldine's legacy of kindness and love will continue to resonate through the lives of those she touched. She was preceded in death by her father, Rodolfo Galvez Sr., her mother, Laura Galvez, and her brother, Rodolfo Galvez Jr.

A visitation in honor of Geraldine will be held on September 20, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Lawn - Long Beach - Mission Room, located at 1500 East San Antonio Drive, Long Beach, CA, 90807. This will be followed by a funeral service on September 21, 2024, beginning at 9:30 AM at St. Cornelius Catholic Church, located at 5500 East Wardlow Road, Long Beach, CA, 90808.

As we gather to remember Geraldine Ochave, we celebrate a life of love, generosity, and devotion to family. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
