Gerald "Jerry" Emery Phillips

December 26, 1935 — February 26, 2022

Gerald Emery Phillips, 86, born on December 26, 1935, in San Jose, CA, United States, to Emery Lawrence Phillips and Dorothy Fay DePew.
He passed away, Saturday, February 26, 2022, after a brief illness.

Jerry served in the United States Army during the Korean War, drove semi-trucks across the country, and served as a building inspector for the City of Rancho Cucamonga until his retirement.

Jerry loved to build things- model ships, a train set, and many wood-working projects. But what he was most proud of building was a loving home with his family. With his beloved wife, Lorie, he helped to raise an assortment of animals all with the special names that he gave them and provided a home for his two grandchildren, Brittany and James. He was always quick with a smile and a hug, and never let a good Dad-joke go unsaid.

Jerry is preceded in death by his 2 brothers, Larry Phillips and Bill Phillips, a sister, Sandy Smith, his parents, and beloved wife. He is survived by his children, Michael Phillips, Leslie Young, Lorri Henson, Wendy Cooper, and Joe Belendez; his grandchildren Brittany Sylvia and James Cooper; and his great-granddaughters Leanne Sylvia, Miley Sylvia, Paige Sylvia, and the soon-to-be Riley Cooper. He will be quietly interred next to his wife, Lorie Phillips, in a small graveside ceremony on March 15, 2022 at Forest Lawn Cemetery. There will be a celebration of Jerry's life in October, 2022.

He resided in Rancho Cucamonga, CA at the time of his passing. The family is grateful to Visiting Angles - Upland, the staff at Merrill Gardens Senior Living and his hospice care team for their kindness and the care they provided in his last weeks. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Covina Hills, California.
