Gerald Arnold
Goldberg
Dec 22, 1937 — Jul 9, 2026
Gerald "Jerry" Goldberg, 88, passed away on July 9, 2026. He was born on December 22, 1937, in Brooklyn, New York.
Jerry was a devoted husband who shared a deep and enduring love with his beloved wife, Miriam. Her recent passing left an immeasurable absence in his life, and he missed her profoundly. Their devotion to one another remained at the center of their family and the life they built together.
Jerry retired from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services after more than 20 years of service. As a supervisor, he helped administer vital social safety-net programs. He took great pride in helping individuals and families receive the assistance they needed. Even outside of work, former clients would recognize him, warmly call out, “Mr. Goldberg!” and thank him for the support he and his team had provided during difficult times.
Jerry pursued many interests that brought him great joy. He was an amateur astronomer, a model-train enthusiast, and an avid boater. He also turned his love of photography into a successful business.
He is survived by his children, Melody Stein and David Goldberg; his grandchildren, Andrew Valencia, Melissa Valen, Mariah Cornwell, and Olivia Feldman; his beloved great-grandchildren, Aiden and Amelia Valencia; and his loyal companion, Maggie Goldberg.
Jerry will be remembered for his devotion to his wife, his commitment to helping others, and the joy and enthusiasm he brought to the many interests he loved. He will be deeply missed.
May his memory be a blessing.
