Georgia Lee Nash departed this life on May 9, 2012 in Fontana, California with her daugher, Cynthia and her granddaughter, Michelle at her side. Georgia's story began on November 23, 1935 when she was born in Ellaville, Georgia. She was the youngest of four children born to her parents, Clinton (Sr.) and Susie Jewel Worthy. The Worthy's joined the Great Migration and moved north to Philadelphia in 1942, where Georgia was educated within the Philadelphia Public school System, graduating from Overbrook High School. In her youth , Georgia developed a very close relationship with her sister Arrie M. Ellis, and the two became inseparable. This special and unique bond endured throughout their lives.
Georgia gave birth to two children. Larry O. Nash and Cynthia L. Coleman. She took great pride in her children, who she protected, nurtured, and loved dearly. Georgia and Cynthia had a particularly close bond, and Georgia had an active role in helping Cynthia raise her own daughter, Michelle, who Georgia adored and bragged about. For the last 20 years Georgia lived with Cynthia and Michelle, and the trio enjoyed living in neighborhoods, in Los Angeles, Carson and eventually settling in Fontana.
In 1970 Georgia began a long career in the hotel business. Georgia discovered she had a knack for this business and quickly moved into managment. Georgia moved to California in 1983 and continued to work in the hotel business. She retired in 1987. Georgia later began a chlld care business in her home. She loved her little ones and their parents. She maintained contacted with the families long after she retired from the child care buisness in 1997.
We celebrate the goodness, love and wisdom that Georgia radiated to all during her memorable life. She was loving, generous and caring. She will be remembered by family and friends for her sense of humor that would make everyone around her laugh and feel perfectly at home in her company. She was an accomplished cook, and was always offering her sumptuous meals to her friends and family. Georgia was an outspoken lady never afraid to express her opinion and standing up for what she felt was right. Her passion was to tell family and friends the way she felt things should be done, whether they wanted to know it or not.
Georgia was prececeased by her parents, Clinton Sr., and Susie Jewel Worthy, her brother Robert Worthy and her sister Arrie M. Ellis.
Georgia leaves to cherish her memory her son, Larry, her daugher Cynthia; and her four grandchildren, Don, Michelle, Nicolle and Jarett, as well as her beloved brother Clinton and sister in law Ruby and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
