Beloved mother and grandmother, Georgette M. (Cote) Cross, 86, of Kingston and a former longtime resident of Haverhill from 1961 until 2012, died on June 27, 2016 at Exeter Hospital.
Born in Lawrence, MA, daughter of the late Eli and Lumina (Blanchette) Cote, she attended St. Anne's School and graduated from Lawrence High School with the Class of 1948. She later went on to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Finance from Merrimack College in 1981.
As a newlywed, Mrs. Cross lived in Manhattan, NY, where she worked in the banking industry. She and her husband then lived in Texas and New Jersey before settling in Haverhill. The wife of Dr. Robert Cross, who died in 1995, Mrs. Cross was the financial manager of their business, ProMed Laboratories, for many years.
A member of St. James Parish in Haverhill, Mrs. Cross was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Bon Secours Hospital, now the Holy Family Hospital.
A prolific reader, Mrs. Cross was an artist in all media and enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble. She also enjoyed taking trips to Old Orchard Beach. Known as "Gigi" to her grandchildren and "Aunt Gidge" to her many nieces and nephews, Mrs. Cross deeply treasured her connection to her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Robert J. Cross, MD, in 1995 and is survived by two sons, Robert R. Cross, MD of Old Saybrook, CT, and David P. Cross and his wife Jeanne of Atkinson, NH, a daughter, Carol C. Lamb and her husband David M. Lamb, Jr. of Kingston, two brothers, Robert Cote of Lawrence, and Joseph Cote and his wife Evelyn of Atkinson, a sister, Reina Parks of Lawrence, seven grandchildren, Samantha Peck and her fiancé Ron Olsen, Danielle Peck, Thomas Cross, Elizabeth Cross, Margaret Cross, Emma Cross, and Robert Cross, and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mrs. Cross's Life Celebration on Thursday, June 30, 2016 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. Her funeral will begin on Friday, July 1 at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. James Church, Haverhill. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery.
