He taught in the San Marino Unified School District until his retirement, as well as serving for many years as Director of Parks and Recreation for the city of San Marino. He is preceded in death by his parents Adelbert and Theresa (Wagner); his first wife Charlotte (Boehne) and daughter Nansi Troxel; his second wife Ruth (Bassett); his sister Olga; and his brothers: Emil, Adelbert, John, and Charles.
