Plaistow, NH: George G. Nugent, Jr., 73, of Plaistow passed away on January 8, 2014 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital after a courageous battle with heart disease.

Born and raised in Tewksbury, MA, son of the late George G. and Anna D. (Scott) Nugent, he received his education from the Tewksbury Public School System.

A former member of the Tewksbury Fire Department, Mr. Nugent began his career with the department as an on-call firefighter and later served full-time in the department. Mr. Nugent was employed for many years in the Heating Oil and L.P. Gas Industries. He recently retired from the Facilities Department at Timberlane Regional High School.

He enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Tewksbury Smoke Eaters League. An avid fisherman, he especially enjoyed salmon fishing, traveling, dining out, and taking trips to the mountains, lakes and the ocean. He also cherished his time spent summering on Lake Ossipee and Kezar Lake with his family. A devoted father and grandfather, he rarely missed any of his children's or grandchildren's sporting events. He coached his children's baseball teams and was a former member of the Timberlane Athletic Council.

He is survived by his loving wife of forty-three years, Deborah L. (Bradley) Nugent, his son and daughter-in-law, Michael H. and Raffaella Nugent of Berkley, MA, his daughter, Jennifer M. Nugent of Plaistow, two grandchildren, Joseph A. and Gabriella M. Nugent of Berkley, MA, a sister-in-law and her husband, Ellen Marie and Charles Gauthier and their children and grandchildren of Florida, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother Charles F. Nugent.

Relatives and friends may call on Sunday, January 12, 2014 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. His funeral will begin from the funeral home on Monday, January 13 at 11 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon at Holy Angels Church of St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, 8 Atkinson Depot Road, Plaistow. Burial will follow in Tewksbury Cemetery, East Street, Tewksbury, MA. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75231, or the N.H.S.P.C.A, 104 Portsmouth Ave, Stratham, NH 03885.
