Lieutenant Colonel George F. Moraveck, USAF (Ret.) passed away peacefully at home in Rancho Mirage, California on March 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 95.
George was born on October 17, 1930, in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Margaret and George F. Moraveck. He grew up in Eau Claire, graduated from St. Patrick’s High School and from an early age spent the summers at his grandparent’s Wisconsin farm and learned hard work. He carried a strong sense of duty, integrity, and quiet determination that would shape the course of his life.
While attending two years at Eau Claire University George knew that he would soon be drafted into the military so decided to enlist in the United States Air Force in 1951 and was sent to Lackland AFB in Texas. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 22 years, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Some of his tours of duty included London, England; Abilene, Texas; Omaha, Nebraska; Washington, D.C.; and Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino, California. During his distinguished military career, he served at the Pentagon in the Office of the Inspector General, contributing to the integrity and oversight of the Air Force with dedication and honor.
George valued education and personal growth, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Military Science from the University of Maryland and a Master of Business Administration from Michigan State University while in the Air Force.
Following his military retirement, George continued a life of public service. He worked as an Information Systems Manager for Riverside Superintendent of Schools and served Riverside County in the position of Deputy Director and Information Technology Director. He retired from county government in 1993. Never one to slow down, George went on to establish his own tax preparation business as an Enrolled Agent, where he assisted many in his community with care and expertise.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Dr. Cassandra Moraveck; his daughter, Georgina Woodman (Steve); and his stepchildren, Damond Robinson (Sharmaine), Shanta Darden (Tom), and Chandra Edinburgh. He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Corporal Nickolas Robinson USMC, Christopher Robinson (Alondra), and Sian Rudder.
