George Henry Miller, Jr., of Los Alamitos, California, passed away on May 24, 2017, at the age of 76.

George was born to the union of George H. Miller, Sr. and Laura Williams Miller on November, 4, 1940, in Inverness, Mississippi. The family moved to Pascagoula, Mississippi in 1955. George joined the Army and after serving his country, he was honorably discharged. He moved to California and was hired by the Long Beach Police Department as a police officer. George moved up the ranks and retired as a Lieutenant. While working full-time with the police department, George attended California State University Los Angeles where he obtained a bachelor's degree. He continued his education and received a master's degree from the University of Southern California.

George served his community for decades as a member of the Long Beach Lions Club. Through the Lions Club he helped to provide a better life for the handicapped, the poor, the sick, the young and the aged. George served as the club's president in 2013.

George is survived by his son, Luis Ali Miller (Ellice), grandchildren, Jaelyn Miller, Damani Miller and Bellamie Miller, brother, Tandy Miller, sisters, Juliareen Miller Williams, Brenda (Joseph) Miller Johnson and Betty Miller Mitchell, as well as his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

George was preceded in death by his parents, George H. Miller, Sr. and Laura Williams Miller, brothers, James P. Miller, Sr. and Frank Miller.

A memorial service will take place Monday, June 5, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. The service will take place at Forest Lawn located at 4471 Lincoln Avenue, Cypress, California 90630, in the Church of Our Fathers.
