George Perry “Flash” Fenton

George lived a life filled with family, laughter, photography, community, and an endless supply of one-liners and dad jokes.

George Perry “Flash” Fenton, 84, passed away peacefully at his home on August 28, 2026, surrounded by the family he loved so deeply.

Born on May 18, 1942, in Alhambra, California, to Helen and Perry Fenton, George lived a life filled with family, laughter, photography, community, and an endless supply of one-liners and dad jokes.

George shared 55 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Judith R. Fenton, whom he met at work. Together, they built a beautiful life and family that would become George’s greatest source of pride.

Known affectionately as “Flash,” George spent much of his life behind a camera. An accomplished professional photographer, his career included work as a photographer for McDonnell Douglas, the Wax Museum, the California Angels, and the California Rams. His camera also gave him a front-row seat to history, entertainment, sports, and countless memorable moments. Over the years, he photographed everything from the construction of the Anaheim Convention Center and hotels to celebrities including Michael Jackson, Dudley Moore, Carol Burnett, and many others.

George was equally passionate about his community. He served as President of the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce and was involved with the Anaheim Gladhanders, welcoming and assisting visitors to the area. He later served as President of the Stanton Chamber of Commerce, President of the Kiwanis Club, and President of the Cypress Chamber of Commerce. His service and dedication were recognized when he was named Man of the Year and honored as an Americana Award recipient.

Yet for all George accomplished, the titles and awards tell only a small part of his story.

To his family, George was simply one of a kind.

He was jovial, lighthearted, a master of the one-liner and the undisputed king of dad jokes. He had a way of making people laugh and never seemed to take life—or himself—too seriously. He was famous for suggesting that everyone should “take the day off,” and his signature thumbs-up became almost as recognizable as George himself.

Put a camera in front of him and chances were you would hear his favorite phrase:

“Fuzzy Pickles!”

George loved ice cream and banana splits, but anything mint held a special place in his heart—mint ice cream, mint chewing gum, even mint mouthwash. He loved miniature golf and Auntie Pinky’s fudge. And whenever George opened a present, he had the wonderful ability to make the person who gave it to him believe it was quite possibly the greatest gift he had ever received.

Above everything else, George was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was his children’s lifelong cheerleader and gave them a childhood filled with love, laughter and memories they will carry with them forever.

George is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judith R. Fenton; his four children and their families:

Margot Fenton Solberg, and her children Joshua, Caleb and Gabriela;

Shawn Fenton and his wife, Erin (Birenbaum), and their daughters Emma and Addison;

Scott Fenton and his wife, Lynda (Torres), and their children Lilah and Colton;

and Stephen Fenton and his wife, Cynthia (Caudill), and their children Kayla, Kendall and Maverick.

George leaves behind far more than photographs. He leaves a lifetime of stories, laughter, corny jokes, family memories and countless moments captured both through his camera and in the hearts of those who loved him.

His family finds comfort knowing that George lived a full life, was deeply loved, and was surrounded by that love when he peacefully passed.

And somewhere, we imagine Flash is already making everyone laugh, giving a thumbs-up, encouraging them to take the day off—and making sure everyone smiles for the camera.
