It is with deep love and remembrance that we honor the life of George Nicholas Azal, who passed away June 22, 2026 after a remarkable journey of 94 years. Born in Brooklyn, New York on July 26, 1931, George lived a life defined by adventure, craftsmanship, humor, and devotion to family.
A dedicated and deeply loved son, brother, and uncle, George’s family was at the center of his life. Though he never married, he built lasting bonds and left an immeasurable impact on those who knew and loved him.
George was a prominent general contractor whose work shaped communities and touched countless lives. Throughout his accomplished career, he built hospitals, family homes, and grand estates for celebrities, earning a reputation for excellence, vision, and integrity in his craft.
Beyond his professional success, George was a passionate world traveler and an avid photographer. He explored countries across the globe and the beauty of America, capturing unforgettable moments, landscapes, and cultures through his camera lens. His photography reflected his eye for detail, his appreciation for beauty, and his adventurous spirit.
George had a lifelong love of food and was always eager to discover new culinary adventures, whether trying a new restaurant, sampling a unique dish, or sharing a memorable homecooked meal with family and friends. He also had a deep appreciation for life's finer pleasures—exceptional wine, great conversation, and the joy of bringing people together around the table. Known for his wonderful sense of humor, he filled every gathering with laughter, warmth, and unforgettable stories.
George was truly a one-of-a-kind force—larger than life, impossible to forget, and deeply admired by all who knew him. He lived fully, loved deeply, and leaves behind a legacy of hard work, artistry, curiosity, and joy.
He will be remembered for his generous heart, sharp wit, adventurous soul, and the many ways he enriched the lives of those around him. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He resided in Palm Desert, CA at the time of his passing. Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Glendale, CA.
