Georg Dzerdz

Georg Dzerdz, 88, born on March 20, 1926 in Wozyliu, Ukraine passed away February 2, 2015. He resided in Simi Valley, California at the time of his passing. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, California.
After growing up in the Ukraine, being one of 15 children, Georg was drafted into the German Army during WWII. He fought as an artillery man during the war. During that time he became an American prisoner of war and worked for the American Army in Germany and Austria. After WWII ended Georg worked around Europe in Austria, Poland and Germany. After 10 years he emigrated to Canada.
Upon reaching Ottawa, Canada he worked as a typerwriter repairman in the Ottawa government offices and as a butcher in Canada Packers Meat Company. Georg met the love of his life in Canada, Janet Keyuk a young woman working on her nursing degree. They met, fell in love, and married in 1958 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
In August 1959 they were blessed with their first son, John Dzerdz. Three years later the Dzerdz's emigrated to the United States in 1963. They arrived in Los Angeles, California in 1963 and never looked back. Georg was working as an actor, staring in a German film as a detective. Janet found a job as a nurse in a short time.
Georg decided not to pursue an acting career found a job working with a gardener in Hancock Park, California. Georg worked for a few years then proceeded to open his own business in gardening and landscaping. His business in Hancock Park, California prospered.
Georg was able to buy a home in the Larchmont district of Los Angeles and lived there for many years. During this time, 10 years after son John was born they were blessed with a daughter, Anne Dzerdz.
In 1974, Georg moved with his family to the San Fernando Valley in Northridge where they bought a home, did a major remodel, made many friends and lived for many years.
Unfortunately in 2005 Georg's wife predeceased him, he continued to live in Northridge until 2010. In 2010 Georg moved to an assisted living near his home.
Georg prospered in the assisted living until August 2014 when a medical condition, and surgeries began to make his health decline. His health further declined into 2015 until his passing in February.
He resided in Simi Valley, California at the time of his passing. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, California.
