Genevieve Stolarik

December 12, 1928 — January 17, 2024

Jenny (Genevieve) Stolarik, 95, born on December 12, 1928, in Los Angeles, CA, passed away January 17, 2024. She resided in Burbank at the time of her passing. Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, CA.

Jenny lived in a time of peace and growing prosperity after WW2 and the Great Depression that affected her immigrant parents. Jenny grew up on East 62nd Street, LA, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Zmirak. She attended and graduated St. Columbkille School (grades 1 to 8). Jenny was awarded the science medal (and a college scholarship she didn’t take) at her graduation from Catholic Girls High School (1946, now Bishop Conaty Memorial H.S.). Jenny married returning WW2 army soldier (Purple Heart Veteran) Fred Stolarik in 1947. Jenny and Fred lived in a trailer he built himself until purchasing their home in Burbank in 1952. A homemaker during the formative years of her two children, Jenny later took on part time jobs at department stores followed by more than a decade of civil service at LADWP.  She loved to travel during this middle third of her life, and was able to see her ancestral Dubrovnik, Croatia and distant relatives living there. Though she lived by herself after her husband’s passing for 34 years in the same Burbank home, she always had activities with friends, from fellow parishioners at St. Anthony’s Croatian Church and St. Finbar, from line dance, Curves fitness classes, and coffee club friends, from city retirees, and others in her social network. We will cherish the beautiful memories of her.
